Your Card is welcomed at all kinds of travel merchants. Some examples are Hertz, Hilton Worldwide, and Delta Airlines, just to name a few. You can earn 2% cash back for travel purchases from airline, lodging, car rental, cruise line, travel agency and tour operators.
- + Do I need to pay an annual fee or enroll in a special program in order to earn cash back?

No. There is no annual fee for the TrueEarnings Card as long as you have a paid Costco Warehouse Membership. Your annual Costco Warehouse Membership Fee will be automatically billed to your TrueEarnings Card statement with this descriptor: “Costco Membership Renewal.”
- + I see a charge in my statement that reads “Costco Membership Renewal.” What is this fee for?

This fee is for your annual Costco Warehouse Membership fee. There is no annual fee for your TrueEarnings Card as long as you have a paid Costco Warehouse Membership. It was automatically charged to your TrueEarnings Card and will qualify toward your annual reward. If you'd rather pay for your warehouse renewal by check or cash, which will not qualify toward your annual reward, please call Costco Wholesale at 1-800-774-2678.
- + Are there any limits to how much cash back I can earn?

There is no limit to how much cash back you can earn with your TrueEarnings Card.
- + What happens to my annual reward if I cancel my TrueEarnings Card?

If you cancel your TrueEarnings Card, your annual reward is forfeited.

Yes, Costco permits their members to have one consumer and one business account per warehouse membership.

No, you just need to pay your minimum balance due by the payment due date to be eligible for your annual reward.

You cannot have both the TrueEarnings Card and the Costco Cash Rebate Credit Card.

No. You cannot transfer back to the American Express Costco Cash Rebate Credit Card because we are no longer accepting new applications for this Card.
Calculating Your Annual Reward
- + How is my annual reward calculated?

The annual reward coupon, issued in February, is calculated based on your eligible charges through your January billing statement, receiving 3% cash back for gasoline, for annual gasoline purchases of up to $3,000 (1% thereafter), 2% cash back for restaurants and travel, and 1% for everything else—inside and outside of Costco.*
- + What is the time period for accruing cash back for my February reward coupon?

Your February 2012 reward coupon will be calculated based on eligible charges from your February 2011 to January 2012 billing statements.
- + How long will it take for my annual reward to appear on my billing statement after I make a purchase with my TrueEarnings Card?

Your reward amount is calculated on a monthly basis. Rewards earned from charges on your current billing statement can be tracked on your next billing statement.
- + How do I know how much cash back I've earned to date?

Your year-to-date annual reward summary can be found on your billing statement or by accessing your account online. Please note there is a one-month lag on the annual reward amount reflected on your billing statement and online account summary.
Annual Reward Coupon Issuance
- + When will I get my reward coupon? How will I receive my reward coupon?

Reward coupons are issued once a year on the last page of your February paper billing statement.
- + How will I get my reward coupon if I requested online statements and don’t receive a paper bill?

If you receive your billing statements online, we will send you a paper billing statement for February with your reward coupon attached to the last page. To redeem your reward you must present the coupon from the last page of your paper billing statement in person at a Costco Warehouse. Please do not print out the coupon from your online statement, because the coupon from your online statement has the word "VOID" printed across the coupon and is not valid for redemption.
- + What happens to my annual reward if I cancel my Costco membership?

If you no longer have a valid Costco membership, your American Express account will be cancelled and your annual reward forfeited. Only Costco members are eligible for the TrueEarnings Card. One convenient way to ensure that your Costco membership stays active is to have your annual membership fee automatically billed to your TrueEarnings Card. Please contact Costco at 1-800-774-2678 to enroll in the auto-bill feature if you are not already enrolled.
Annual Reward Coupon Redemption
- + How do I redeem the annual reward?

To redeem your Annual Reward Coupon from American Express, you must bring it to any U.S. Costco Warehouse including Puerto Rico. At the Costco warehouse you may redeem your coupon for Costco merchandise, cash, or cash equivalent. The coupon has no value if not redeemed in person at a Costco Warehouse before the expiration date.
- + If I have elected to receive online statements only, can I use a printout of the reward coupon from my online statement to redeem my reward coupon at Costco?

No. A reward coupon is void if printed from an online statement, so do not print the online February statement to get a coupon. For the month of February, you will receive a paper statement with a valid reward coupon attached to the last page of the statement.
- + When does the reward coupon expire?

Annual Reward Coupons from American Express expire on August 31st of the year of issuance. The expiration date can be found on the top right corner of the reward coupon above the reward amount. The coupon has no value if not redeemed in person at a Costco Warehouse before the expiration date.
- + What happens if I accidentally redeem two rewards for one account?

If you redeem any reward more than once, your account will be billed for any multiple rewards used. You are authorized to redeem only one Annual Reward Coupon from American Express per year for each account.
- + Can I give the reward coupon to someone else to use?

Annual Reward Coupons from American Express are not transferable. They may only be redeemed by the Basic Cardmember or Additional Cardmember on the TrueEarnings account. A Household Membership Card holder cannot redeem the Annual Reward Coupon of the Basic Costco member unless they are also a Cardmember on the TrueEarnings account.
- + What if I don't use my entire reward coupon on my purchase?

Any unused portion of your reward coupon may be issued in cash or cash equivalent at the Costco Warehouse.

No. Annual Reward Coupons from American Express may not be used for payment of the outstanding balance on your American Express Credit Card account.

Annual Reward Coupon Replacement
- + I can't find my reward coupon. Can you send me a replacement?

- + I just received my February statement from American Express and I do not see a reward coupon in my billing statement. Why?

Please confirm you are looking at the correct billing statement. If your statement closes late in the month, you may not receive your February billing statement until early March. If you have confirmed you are reviewing the correct billing statement, your annual reward earned as of January is greater than $1, and your account has been current all year, please contact Customer Service at 1-888-246-1076 or send us a secure e-mail to inquire about your reward coupon.
- + I misplaced my reward coupon. Can I print out the reward coupon from my online billing statement?

No, the coupon on the online statement cannot be used for redemption because it is not a valid coupon. To replace your reward coupon, please contact American Express Customer Service at 1-888-246-1076 or send us a secure e-mail to request a replacement coupon. Restaurant Reward Change
- + Why are you making these changes?

Rewards are expensive, and we needed to balance the economics of our Card. We believe that even with these changes our Costco Co-branded Cards offer some of the richest rewards in the competitive marketplace to Cardmembers. It was important to continue to offer these Cards with no annual fee (with paid Costco Membership), in addition to rewards year-round, with no limit to the amount of total cash back Cardmembers can earn.
- + What if a Cardmember just opened an account? Isn’t this unfair?

For Cardmembers who opened an account for a TrueEarnings® Card between August 1, 2010, and July 31, 2011, the change will not apply during their first year of Cardmembership. These Cardmembers will continue to earn 3% on eligible purchases at restaurants until the start of their 13th billing period. At that time the reward on eligible purchases at restaurants will be reduced from 3% to 2%.
- + Why is American Express reducing the reward percentage? How was the decision made to change dining and not other benefits?

Rewards are expensive, and we needed to balance the economics of our Card. First, it was important to us to ensure that the Cards continue to have no annual fee.
Second, for our TrueEarnings Card, we looked at how Cardmembers are using our Card. While many do take advantage of the restaurant bonus, many more use our Card to earn cash back on gas.
With the price of gas continuing to rise, it was important for us to keep this benefit intact. With this change, we’re changing a benefit that we know is not as valuable to all of our Cardmembers (reducing restaurants from 3% to 2%) so that we can continue to invest in the rewards that matter most (no annual fee Card, Gas at 3%, restaurants at 2%—which is competitive with the industry and other cash reward cards—and travel at 2%, PLUS 1% everywhere else). Additionally, the average impact to Cardmembers using the restaurant bonus is less than $15 based on our analysis of average spending in this category.

- + I am also an Executive Member at Costco. Would I be able to earn cash back with the TrueEarnings Card?

Yes. The reward from your Executive Membership will be issued from Costco upon your membership renewal. In addition to the annual 2% reward Executive Members enjoy on most Costco purchases, up to $500 a year, you can also earn cash back when you use your TrueEarnings Card for your purchases inside and outside of Costco. - + I am a small business owner and I just got a TrueEarnings Business Card. Can I transfer my reward balance from my TrueEarnings Card to my TrueEarnings Business Card?

No. You cannot transfer your reward balance from a Consumer account to a Business account. To prevent forfeiting the reward on your Consumer account, you must keep your Consumer account open. There is no annual fee on the TrueEarnings Card or the TrueEarnings Business Card and having both Cards is a great way to separate your personal expenses from your business expenses.
- + What happens to my reward from my TrueEarnings Card if I received new TrueEarnings Executive Plastic?

When you receive new Executive plastic, the amount of reward earned on your original Card is transferred to your new Card as a banked amount. At the end of the year in which you receive your new Executive plastic, the banked amount is added to the reward amount earned on your new Card and that combined amount is reflected on the reward coupon for that reward period.
